Laz moved to Miami Florida in 1980 from Cuba at the age of 15. Growing up in Miami is where he was first introduced to drugs. After many years of struggling with drug abuse, Laz relocated to Delray beach Florida where he stayed clean for about 2 years. After a relapse and some legal consequences, Laz finally realized he had a problem with drugs and that’s when he made the conscience decision that he needed to do something about his addiction. After a court mandated rehab, Laz learned about the 12 step programs and what he had to do to stay clean and change his life. He found a sponsor shortly after, started working the steps, went to meetings daily and followed all the suggestions that were given to him. Laz celebrated 15 years clean July 27th and has been working in the treatment industry for the last 12 years. He is currently the Lead Behavioral Health Technician at The Detox Center. Even with 15 years sober, Laz continues to go to meetings, has a sponsor and a big support group.
